Canh Chua

If  you  are looking for some delicious way  to   start  a full  course  meal  in Vietnam  then  you should opt  for any  of the tasty  Vietnamese  soups. Vietnam is  a  well  known southeast Asian  country that  is  well known for its tasty  cuisine.  A  large  section of the international tourists  who  visited Vietnam  have  become  great  fans  of this  amazing Asian cuisine.  There  are a number of soups in  Vietnamese cuisine that are very tasty and spicy.  A Vietnamese soup dish is the ideal  way to  begin  any Vietnamese meal.

 

If you are going  to taste the  Vietnamese cuisine for the first time and  are unsure about which  soups  is  to  try, then you  must go for  the popular choice that is Canh  Chua.  The  literal  meaning of  Canh  Chua  is sour  soup and  the  soup has  a sour taste  as  the name suggests.  It  is a kind of  sour  soup that  originated in the  Mekong river  region of  Southern Vietnam. This dish is made with fish, pineapple,  tomatoes as well as some  other vegetable. Bean  sprouts are also added to the  soup.  The  soup is flavored with tamarind  and  so the soup dish has  a  spicy, sweet yet sour taste. It  is truly  a feast for your  taste buds.

This tasty soup  is garnished  with a special  Vietnamese herb which is known as ngo om which  has  a  lemony  flavor.  Other  flavoring  ingredients  include caramelized garlic as well as chopped scallions.  Depending on the  variants  of  Canh  Chua  a  host of other  herbs and  spices  are  also  used.  The spices include Vietnamese coriander, long coriander and Thai basil.  This dish can also be  made in the  form  of  a hotpot. Canh Chua  is  very similar  to a Cambodian dish known as  Samlar Machu.
