A Vietnamese Family Meal

Vietnam is an Asian country that has become quite famous for its cuisine.  Food lovers from different parts of the world have tasted and adored the cuisine of this country. The country is well known for its spicy and aromatic food. The use of fish sauce is also very popular in Vietnamese cuisine. Exotic meats are also prepared in Vietnam. There are generous use of special spices and herbs in Vietnamese cuisine too. There are a number of popular dishes in Vietnamese cuisine as well.  But most of the elaborate dishes are prepared during the events and festivals.  There are some simple and tasty dishes that are regularly consumed at any Vietnamese household.

 

The people of Vietnam generally prefer light aromatic meal for their day to day life. As the country is situated in the tropical region the temperature of the  country is always higher than most  other countries and  hence the food eaten here is less spicy and light.  The daily meals generally consists of  rice. Rice is the main food of the people of  Vietnam.  Most of the people in Vietnam prefer to  eat rice. Rice is served with a number of side dishes and sauces.

A typical meal for  the average Vietnamese family  includes  rice and some  side dishes  as  sauces. Each of the  family members get an individual  rice.  The rice is served  with  vegetables and  stewed meat.  The  meat can  also  be  served as  grilled,  boiled, steamed along  with  vegetables. There  is also one vegetable  dish  served with rice.  The vegetables  are either stir-fried, raw or steamed. Canh which is a broth with vegetables, meat and seafood are also  served with the main dish. Other Vietnamese style soups are also  served with the  main dish.  Prepared fish  sauce and soy  sauce are also served with the  main dish for dipping.
